30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 3

Why I Named My Blog Kinging Queen

Naming my blog the kiinging queen stems from a lot of factors that i will attempt to explain on this post. The kinging queen is very symbolic for me and i hope my dreams as to the name come true. Kinging queen will be a blog dedicated to every woman kinging out there, whether at her place of work, at school or personal business. This is not to say men are not welcomed here. As a matter of fact, kinging queen blogs will be the more reason why our guys have to hop on this journey with me.

So today on day 3 of the 30 day blog challenge, i am talking about why i named my blog Kinging Queen.

I put a lot of thought into the selection of the website name because i had to choose what actually defines the aim i want to achieve in my blogging journey.

For the first few years of my life, from the age of 9 till i was about 17 years, i was a victim of molestation. Physical, emotional and mental abuse. I retreated into reading, even went as far as writing lots of beautiful poems (oh well i thought they were beautiful). I however lost the book of poems.

I have been a voracious reader for as long as i can remember, usually retreating into the world of Mills & Boons, those heroes and heroines and their always “happy ever after” endings, the world of espionage and adventures on the pages of James Hadley Chase.

The never ending intrigues of the “law” on the pages of every John Grisham best seller, Danielle Steele and her powerful work of fiction that always make me cry or laugh, the world of Hollywood on Jackie Collins novels, Sidney Sheldon spinning masterpiece tales.

The list goes on and on. Reading and writing became my escape and still is even though it is more leisurely now. This has made me acquire quite a library that i am proud of.

I started gaining voice, started standing up for myself in the higher institution after an incident that led to me having a carry over of a mathematics course simply because i refused to date my Calculus lecturer. The juicy details of that incident is captured HERE. I  made a deliberate and conscious effort to stand up to anyone and everyone who wants to put me down, bully me or abuse me in anyway.

It took a lot of courage. I am still on the journey and i hope it takes me to a great place where my voice will be higher than the voice of every form of oppression and victimization both in homes and workplaces.

Being a female working in a predominantly male profession, i have witnessed and have been subjected to gender inequality, oppression and victimization from male colleagues and each time, i have come up a winner! I never let anyone treat me as a doormat or treat me lesser because of my gender when i know what i am doing!

This is where the idea for the name of my website was born! This was how the name for my blog was conceived. They say the woman have more advantage and i say a woman will always have to work twice (if not more) at something before she is “deemed or seen” enough or adequate.

I initially wanted to go with my writing name, jenniferpompaski with the dotcom because i wanted to make it me and my brand but i thought it was mouthful. I wanted something with attitude, a name that will immediately be striking and make some think, “oh, that name!”. A name that is easily remembered, striking and meaningful.

I thought about all my experiences, how i have been able to overcome a lot of things life threw my way, how i am here today, going strong, getting stronger and bolder, doing all i can to be a better person and be better in every way and i decided using my writing name will not cut it.

I have been fighting my way through it all and winning, winning and kinging and i thought to myself why not www.kingingqueen.com?

You see, i want to share my experiences with women and men who have had similar experiences, to draw strength and to give strength. To give hope to people who may be in similar situations but think they can’t get out or be better.

Who Is  A Kinging Queen?

When i decided on the name, i told a friend about it and he was like “what sort of name is a kinging queen? This is who a kinging queen is.

If you are a single mother, trumping and catering for your kid(s), working to provide for them, you are a kinging queen!

If you are a mother, building an empire with your family, you are a kinging queen!

If you are a victim of sexual, physical, emotional abuse and came out strong on the other side, you are a kinging queen!

If you are a victim of workplace victimization and beat every game they put up, you are a kinging queen!

If you are a female making waves in a male dominated world, you are a kinging queen!

If you are seeing yourself single handedly through college, you are a kinging queen!

If you are advocating for the #girlchild, you are a kinging queen!

You beat cancer? You are a kinging queen!

Are you a single lady, exploring life and doing great things? You are a kinging queen!

All you mompreneurs, entrepreneurs, bloggers “kinging” it in your different niches, are kinging queens!

I am looking to build a tribe of women i have decided to name KQ Tribe, a tribe that will cater to and build with other fellow, a place for networking, reaching out and touching lives.

Working with brands to actualize this and it is my wish that this happens as i intend to work very hard toward achieving the purpose for which this blog is built.

So the kinging queen is here and its purpose is to serve all kinging queens! If you are not following yet, what are you waiting for? See that sign up form? Yes the one popping up right about now, sign up and be privy to daily newsletter for inspiration, motivation and musings right from the soul to keep you well grounded!

Hmmmm! What a lovely concept? It is the inner you that is speaking and that inner you is called “man” i.e. a woman that sails like a man. The she that refused to be defeated by a “he”, the conqueror, the bold one; I hail thee! I believe the bullies and molestation you went through as a teenager contributed generously in bringing out the Kinging Queen in you. Thank God it didn’t mar but rather made you. I am glad I belong to The KQ Tribe.
