30 Day Blog Challenge: Day12: My Views On Drugs And Alcohol

My Views On Drugs and Alcohol

The topic for the 30 day blog challenge day 12 is my views on drugs and alcohol.

I have not had much experience on drugs and alcohol but i have seen the devastation that they cause and it is not good. I never had a head for alcohol so can’t hold down my liquor.

Understanding that early on helped me a lot so i never developed the habit of drinking except on very rare occasions.

We are in the month of June and i have never had even a sip.

My intention is not to come across as sanctimonious please. It i something i am not just cut out for. In as much as i don’t drink, i believe the occasional glass of wine is not a bad idea. I can do wine if the occasion calls for it. I also take it because i happen to know that red wine is good for the heart from numerous studies carried out on Mediterranean diets.

So today being the 12th day of the 30 day blog challenge, i will be sharing my views on drugs and alcohol. Day 11, I talked about what i would do with a million dollars

By the way, if you are a blogger or writer and want to do your own 30 day blog challenge, there are lots of ideas on Pinterest that you can use!

30 Day Blog Challenge Day 12: My Views On Drugs

Drugs is a whole ball game entirely. Cannabis is now being accepted as a healthy drug in some countries as a cure but then i also know that cannabis can do a lot of damage when abused.

Drugs have ruined lives and great destinies. It will continue to ruin lives and destinies because drugs will continue to be grown and produced.

Afterall, a great number of drugs are actually produced for safe use but people abuse them, use them in large quantities, get addicted and then the downward spiral to hopelessness starts.

Drugs do not also devastate those who only use them but also their families. It is a vicious cycle and my heart truly goes out to them.

I saw someone snuffing coke right in front of me when i was in high school ( i was in a shop owned by my dad and ran by my elder sister), the guy sneered at me, told me leave but not until i saw him snuffing it.

When i told my elder sister, she said it was coke (God some of the things i was exposed to as a kid . I am just glad i turned out right!).

Well, the guy is no more. I was told he was hooked on drugs for years, quit school and then died a couple of years later.

I can say that i do not support the abuse of drugs in anyway. It is an ill wind that blows no good.

My Views On Alcohol

It is safe to say that moderation is the key. I do not have anything against people who drink as long as they don’t get drunk, constitute nuisance and become domestic abusers.

Where i work, we have alcohol testing kits for drivers (mostly) regardless of the kind of vehicle (heavy or light), they drive. The tests are carried out randomly.

This is done in a bid to “check” that drivers (coupled with a drug and alcohol policy which is mandatory in the oil and gas industry) do not drive under the influence of alcohol.

The random alcohol tests acts as checks to monitor driver and the end game is prevention of accidents.

If alcohol is a good thing, i don’t think organisations will be adopting policies to curb the use of drugs and alcohol. I have seen people ravaged by drug and alcohol abuse.

A lot of young people have died with their dreams and ambitions. Families torn apart with perpetual hopelessness and helplessness.

Conclusion: 30 Day Blog Challenge Day 12

30 day blog challenge day 12: The abuse of drugs and alcohol are key leading causes of domestic violence, vehicle accidents as well as workplace accidents. Drugs and alcohol impairs sense of  judgement and of course when someone’s sense of judgement is impaired by drugs and alcohol, they become irrational, implacable and violent.

The result? Domestic violence, abuse, accidents and of course illnesses and diseases arising from damage to body organs.Have a glass or two of wine while relaxing or out with friends. Have a shot of whiskey if you must but when you start drinking more than you should, know it is time to seek for help. Drugs are a No No for me just as it should be for everyone else. Well, its a wrap for 30 day blog challenge day 12. What are your own views about alcohol and drugs?

    Well articulated thoughts Pompaski!!! The topic is as round as the globe. I am grateful to the Creator of Mankind for the discipline he has instilled in me to shun alcohol and its addiction in time past. No, i never sought for help from any ‘rehab’ other than focus on God. Below life experiences is incontrovertible ;
Alcohol is addictive: …One bottle for waiting for your Guest, another bottle when your Guest come, then another to share with your Guest and the last bottle for the road. You can also have one by yourself when you get home. With time, your bloodstream gets use to it and you no longer feel the intoxicating effects thus become resistance to anesthesia and sleep deprived (insomnia) because alcohol has become you.
Alcohol makes you loose self respect: Nobody takes you serious as they will equate every of your utterance to the after effects of alcohol and wave away your opinion like the traffic police. Now, who does not wants to be taken serious?
Alcohol causes Liver disease like SCLEROSIS and aggravates certain ailments like diabetes especially Beer, spirits with the exception of RED wine of which one glass after meal (once a day) is recommended, causes obesity ( yea some ‘self consolators’ will say they are taking spirits to reduce weight while the simple truth is that it is full of carbohydrates). My conclusion is abstain because ”practice makes perfect” taking more than a glass will eventually become normal.

Now Pompaski, taking of alcohol could only lead to domestic violence if the person has the traits of violence in him as this will bring this violent nature to the fore… but i leave that for another day.
    Your article is supper.
