6 Reasons Exercise Is Good For You (That Don’t Involve Weight Loss)

I always try to work in exercise into my busy schedule knowing fully well it’s benefits and why exercise is good for us.

If you were asked whether you’d started some fad exercise regime to lose weight, you’d probably put your hand up. And if asked how long you kept doing that exercise, it presumably wouldn’t pass 6 months. You wouldn’t be alone there either. Pretty much all of us are guilty of starting exercise purely to lose weight. And that’s not a bad thing. But exercising just to shed some pounds means you’re less likely to continue it, less likely to enjoy it, and more likely to have a poor relationship with your body image.

why exercise is good

Exercising to lose weight shouldn’t be the only reason you’re doing it. You can do the most significant thing for yourself first and show a little self-love for the amazing body you’re in. Then start exercising because of a least one of these 8 reasons below, which show why exercise is good for you.

What Are Three Benefits Of Exercise?

  1. Boosts Immunity

Exercise is surprisingly essential for a robust immune system. It actually helps your body to find anything nasty and deal with it in a flash. And thinking long-term, regular workouts can actually slow down immune system changes brought on by aging. So all in all, you’ll be healthier for longer!

  1. Releases ‘Happy Hormones’

When you exercise, mood-boosting hormones flood your brain. Your ‘happy hormone’ serotonin, feel-good friends endorphins, and dopamine, (the pleasure rewarder) and all released when you get moving. So not only do you feel more motivated, these hormones will actually help suppress feelings of anxiety and stress.

  1. Strengthens Bones

Day-to-day movements such as walking, sports like tennis, and exercise that involves running are all weight-bearing. And doing these things regularly means your bone density increases, and they get stronger. Resistance training can even help to promote bone growth and prevent bone damage. Pretty amazing stuff for just going on a walk.

More Reasons Why Exercise Is Good For You

  1. Increases Energy Levels

Exercise can boost those lower than low energy levels. Something a lot of us are probably experiencing right now! It helps by improving blood flow so more all-important oxygen and nutrients can reach your cells. And it doesn’t have to be an hour of high-intensity workouts. Just 20 minutes a day will leave you feeling more alert and with energy to spare.

  1. Better Sleep (And Better Sex)

If it feels like your always chasing those elusive nine hours of perfect sleep, get your body moving! But it’s all in the timing. You don’t want to do an intense workout at 11 pm. The endorphin release will probably leave you wanting to run around in circles rather than curl up in bed. So try the high-intensity stuff in the morning and opt for a wind-down routine at night, like Yoga.

And if you’re going to bed, but not to sleep, exercise will help there too. It’ll boost your self-esteem, improve circulation, and eliminate the most significant libido destroyer, stress.

  1. Stronger Muscles

Building stronger muscles doesn’t just mean you’ll find opening jars easier. It also leads to better heart health, better posture, and fewer injuries. It doesn’t matter whether you end up with a six-pack or just more definition in your arms; it all helps. And you can utilize steelsupplements.com if you want to see significant muscle gains and need a helping hand.

Conclusion: Why Exercise Is Good

I am sure, having read all these, you now understand why exercise is good for you. When it comes down to it, all that really matters with exercise is that you’re moving your body, and you’re enjoying it. So you can do it whichever way suits you best. Whether that’s lifting weights, becoming part of the Peloton community, or getting flexible with Yoga. Do what works for you and what makes you happy. Because at the end of the day, you’ll still reap all the rewards exercise has to give.
